Den Meeting Wednesday, Pack Meeting Friday

The next den meetings will be on Wednesday, November 18th at the Elementary School.  Check with your Den Leader if you don’t know the exact time.  We will also begin collecting the yearly dues, which are due before we recharter in December.  You can avoid the rush at the Pack Meeting if you stop by the front desk and pay your dues now!

On Friday, November 20th we will hold the Pack Meeting at the Middle School Auditorium at 7:00 PM.  The scouts will be performing skits and songs for our annual Pack 843 Talent Show.  All scouts who have their yearly dues paid will receive their Pinewood Derby car kits at this meeting.

Hayride Sunday — Popcorn Orders Due!

The Pack 843 Fall Hayride and October Pack Meeting is this Sunday, October 18th.  If you haven’t signed up yet, please use the   to do so right away!

The event will be Boy’s Home Park (near Hogan Field, Boy’s Home Rd. off of Battle Ridge Rd.) from 3:00 until 6:00. Please dress for the weather, and bring a chair if you’d like.

IMPORTANT:  This is the LAST chance to turn in popcorn orders!  Here are two steps that willl help the process move faster for everyone:

  • Please tally your order forms and double check the totals (hint:  Multiply the totals at the bottom of the page by the cost per unit.  Does that match your dollar total from the right-hand side?).
  •  It would be helpful to convert any cash into a single check made out to “Pack 843”.

See you at the Hayride!

Pack Meeting Friday

Reminder — the Pack Meeting is this Friday, September 18th, 7:00 PM at Fairview Park.  Please meet at the entrance pavilion BY 7:00.  We have limited daylight, so we have to start promptly!

Scouts should be in uniform (but if you don’t have one yet, please come anyhow).  We will be geocaching in the woods, so long pants and decent shoes would be a good choice. As with any hike, items like a flashlight and a water bottle would also be a good idea.  Parents may want to bring a chair and a jacket.

Pack Meeting Sept 18th – Geocaching!

Cub Scout GPSThe first Pack Meeting of the new season will be this Friday, September 18th, at Fairview Park.  We will meet at 7:00 PM at the entrance pavilion for a Geocaching Adventure!  Please be on-time or early — we have limited daylight, so I will be starting PROMPTLY at 7:00.

Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location.  And it’s happening right now, all around you!  There are over 2.5 million active geocaches, and over 6 million geocachers worldwide.  For this event, we will have some temporary caches set up, and GPS devices that the scouts can use to track them down.  There will be a reward at the end for all successful cachers.

If you’d like to get a head start, you can visit the Introduction to Geocaching page at Geocaching.com.

Besides the geocaching, there will be our usual Pack Meeting activities, like awards and presentations.  Do not miss this great event!  Recommended dress is long pants (for the geocaching), good boots or shoes, and remember to bring a jacket.

If you are interested in marching in this parade, please e-mail Mark Gubinsky at mark@gubinskylaw.com so he will know how many kids will be there. (He buys candy for the kids to pass out during the parade and needs to know how much candy is needed). The pack will be meeting on Station Street by the American Legion Post at about 9:15 on the 25th.

The pack has participated in this parade for the past several years.  The boys really enjoy it.  If you are in town Memorial Day weekend, please try to take the time for your son to participate in the parade.

Any adult leaders are invited to participate as well.  Uniform shirts are required for the adults and children for the parade.
