Faraday Lecture is this week- Great Event for Scouts!

If you have this evening free, it is worth your time to see this event.  It will be on Tuesday, November 19 at 7:00pm.  This event will be at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall.  Great Event for Scouts and Families!  This year the event will be on Stardust musings and Memories

This is a FREE event and will include a series of engaging and intriguing demonstrations specifically designed to educate the audience about the transition from the Big Bang to stars to stardust, to cosmic dust, to atoms! Audience volunteers will become part of David D’Emilio’s rocket launch crews, hydrogen and oxygen balloons will explode to make water and the connection between stardust and colorful fireworks will be explained using prisms and diffraction gratings.  David D’Emilio is a veteran chemical demonstration expert at the University of Pittsburgh Chemistry Department.  This is a great event for every age.

November Pack Meeting On Friday – Popcorn pickup on Saturday Morning

Our NOVEMBER PACK MEETING is this Friday, 11/15, at the South Fayette Middle School Auditorium. We will have opening ceremony at 7:00pm followed by awards ceremony. This will be followed by the Dens performing skit(s) or other presentations for the audience. During this time, I will be at the back of the auditorium collecting dues for 2020. Dues paid in August – October for the new scouts covered dues through the end of the 2019 year. Dues for the year 2020 are $160 per scout (reduced fee of $140 if you have a volunteer position that was mentioned at our October Pack meeting). We still have open positions for anyone interested in volunteering for a position. It is not to late to get reduced rates. If you sold popcorn, you should receive an email today letting you know what your dues are (if any) after your popcorn sales. When your dues are paid your scout will receive a pinewood derby car kit. Our pinewood derby race in in January.

POPCORN PICKUP this Saturday morning – If you have a popcorn order that has not been filled and picked up previously, your popcorn order will need to be picked up on Saturday, 11/16, between 9am – 11:30am at the Popcorn Kernel’s house – 7022 Clubview Drive, Bridgeville. If you are unable to pick up your popcorn during this time, please text the popcorn kernel at 412-780-9757 for other options.

Pack events this week

This Wednesday is the first Wednesday of the month. Den meetings will be held at the school unless otherwise notified by your Den Leader(s).

Thank you for the scouts that volunteered to help tomorrow evening at our Charter Organization’s Fund Raising Spaghetti Dinner. If you would like to help our Charter Organization with their fund raising event, please stop by and purchase a spaghetti dinner to eat at the Church or to take home and enjoy.

Spaghetti Dinner Volunteers Needed

Once again our Charter Organization, Resurrection Church in Oakdale, is asking for our Cub Scouts to help with their election day Spaghetti Dinner. The Spaghetti dinner is on Tuesday, November 5th from 4 – 7pm. Scouts will help serve salads, fill bread baskets and help with cleaning up paper plates and bowls. Here is a signup sheet. We are asking for 2 scouts for each hour. In the past, the scouts that volunteered had fun. This also counts for service hours. The address for Resurrection Lutheran Church is 7600 Steubenville Pike, Oakdale.

Thank you for supporting our Charter Organization!

POPCORN ORDERS DUE

I will be at Starbucks (at the Bridgeville exit) tonight from 6:45 – 8:00pm for popcorn orders. If you did not give me your popcorn order at the picnic and you have a popcorn order sheet and money that you need to turn in, or if you placed your orders on the trails-end app under wagon sale and collected cash/checks for these sales and need to turn in money, you will need to stop by Starbucks this evening to drop off money, popcorn sheet or both.
