Tent or Treat Pack meeting Fun!

Thanks for coming out and having fun at our monthly Pack meeting and Tent or Treat. The scouts received their advancements they have been earning with their dens and got to make a pumpkin craft, set up and decorate a tent, and go trick or treating! And the rain didn’t deter us!

October Pack Meeting – Tent & Treat and 2024 Dues Collection

Our October Pack Meeting will be held at the Rotary Pavilion in Fairview Park on October 29th from 1-3PM. Dens will gather at 1PM to build and decorate their tents, then the Scouts will parade through the tents collecting candy provided by the Pack. Scouts can have fun doing a pumpkin craft. Scouts and siblings are invited to wear a costume to this event.

In addition to Tent and Treat, 2024 dues will be collected so parents and guardians of returning Scouts, don’t forget your checkbook to renew your scout’s membership for this year. Once your Scout’s dues are paid, they will receive their Pinewood Derby kit. The Pinewood Derby will be held in January, so get your kit early so you have plenty of time to work on it. Please note, it you have a new Scout who just signed up in September or October, you will only owe us the Pack fee, as you have already paid your national and council fees with your application, so please remember to pick up your Scout’s Pinewood Derby car at this Pack Meeting.

Please sign up with scouts and siblings planning on attending so we have an estimate of how many will attend. We ask that you volunteer to bring a package of non-candy treats, trinkets, or drinks. Please also sign up with what treats you will be contributing. The sign up page is https://pack843.org/sign-ups/?sheet_id=206

Fun at the Wild Things Game

Last night, the scouts from our pack joined with many others from our council to enjoy a night at the ballpark! We saw the Washington Wild Things win the game and then got to sleepover on the field at the stadium. We didn’t get much sleep, but had a great time! I hope everyone can come join us for this event next year!

May Picnic recap

Thanks to everyone for coming out for our May pack meeting yesterday. We had great weather for a fantastic picnic to wrap up the scouting year. We had advancements that the scouts earned, picnic food, and played games. We had a great time!

Memorial Day Parade – 2023

Pack 843 will march in the Bridgeville Memorial Day parade, in Bridgeville on May 29, 2023. Marching in the parade is always a fun time and a highlight for our Pack to show off who we are and that we are a part of the community. If you will be in town during the Memorial Day weekend, please try to take time for your son or daughter to participate in this parade. The kids have fun showing off and tossing candy to the people watching along the parade route!

The pack will meet on Station Street in Bridgeville by the American Legion Post at 9:00AM. The parade starts at 10 AM and usually takes less than an hour.

The parade begins near Station Street and ends at the Cemetery past the GetGo.
It is suggested to park either at the cemetery or in the Aldi parking lot so you don’t have to walk all the way back to your vehicle after the parade.

Uniform shirts are required to be worn by the Scouts and adult leaders for the parade. The exception would be the Lions who are permitted to wear class B uniforms.

Please sign up in advance so that the coordinator knows how much candy to purchase for the Scouts to pass out to the crowd. Please sign up here prior to
May 25th: http://pack843.org/sign-ups/

Adult leaders are encouraged to participate so that we maintain two deep leadership at all times. Please let Jon Spink know if you have any questions at jon.spink@gmail.com

Scouting for Food Update

Thank you so much to all those who participated in our pack’s Scouting for Food collection! The pack collected 8 boxes of food and baby diapers totaling 140 pounds of donations for the Bridgeville Area Community Food Bank. This made for a great help to our community.

Flag retirement – May 24

We need scouts to help our community retire flags that are old, worn, or otherwise ready to be retired from service. This is one way that Pack 843 helps out in the community!  Please join us for the ceremony, during which we will honor and burn the flags being retired.

Wednesday May 24 at 6:30pm, Fairview Park, Lafayette Pavilion

We’ll be running this in shifts, starting at 6:30, 7:00, and 7:30, so come as you are able and not everyone will be expected to stay for the whole time. Leaders will also be on hand to help scouts work on any requirements or skills that are still needed to earn their rank.
