Cubmobile Results

Cubmobile RaceFrontier District had posted the results from the 2015 Cubmobile Race at Settler’s Cabin.  133 scouts raced — a new record!  Out of all 14 packs that competed, Pack 843 came in second overall.  Great effort, scouts!

Downhill (Gravity Race)

  • Wolves, 3rd place:   “Lion Wolves” (Will, Luke, and Caden)

Monte Carlo (Circular Relay)

  • Bears, 2nd place: “Kryptonic Squirrels”  (Cohen and Tommy)
  • Wolves, 1st place:  “Flaming Hamsters”  (Andre and Cooper)
  • Wolves, 2nd place: “Lion Wolves”  (Will, Luke, and Caden)
  • Wolves, 3rd place:  “Team Longshot”  (Bradyn and Nicholas)
  • Tigers, 2nd place:  “Flying Nathans”  (Nathan H. and Nathan S.)

Yes, Pack 843 OWNS the Monte Carlo.

Interested In Cub Scouts? Come To The Spring Picnic!

bear wolf tigerCub Scout Pack 843 is getting ready for its last activity of the program year, but it could also be the FIRST activity for new Scouts!

On May 17th we will be holding our Spring Picnic and Pack Meeting at the new pavilion in Fairview Park at 3:00 PM.  Boys interested in Cub Scouts, INCLUDING KINDERGARTEN BOYS, are invited to attend!  If you are getting ready to graduate from Kindergarten, then you can sign up now for the new Scout year!  As a registered Tiger scout, you will also be allowed to attend Scout Day Camp (July 7-9 in Cecil Park).

Boys in First through Fourth grade are also invited to attend, and find out how to register early for the new year of Scouting.  It’s not too late to get involved!

Den Meeting Wednesday

This will be the last den meeting before the Spring Picnic.  If you have requirements to complete for your rank badge, now is the time!  Additional reminders:

Washington Wild Things — Sign-up will be available at the front desk for the Wild Things game on June 5th.  Right now there are NINE scouts signed up.  Let’s have a good showing when Pack 843 takes the field as the Honor Guard.

Memorial Day Parade — Pack 843 will be marching in the Bridgeville Memorial Day parade on May 25, 2015. If you are interested in marching in this parade, please e-mail Mark Gubinsky at mark@gubinskylaw.com so he will know how many kids will be there. (He buys candy for the kids to pass out during the parade and needs to know how much candy is needed). The pack will be meeting on Station Street by the American Legion Post at about 9:15 on the 25th.

The pack has participated in this parade for the past several years.  The boys really enjoy it.  If you are in town Memorial Day weekend, please try to take the time for your son to participate in the parade.

Any adult leaders are invited to participate as well.  Uniform shirts are required for the adults and children for the parade.

Upcoming Events

The next den meeting will be May 6th at the Elementary School.  (There is no meeting this week since it’s the 5th Wednesday of the month).

Have you completed all the requirements for your next rank?  The year is almost up, so check your books, and enter your advancement progress on Scout Book!

The Spring Picnic on May 17th is the last Pack Meeting of the year.  It will be our last chance to give out advancement items, and Scouts will cross over to their new rank.  Please sign up now!  Visit the sign-up page here.

Our Pack will be presenting the colors on the field as the Honor Guard for the Washington Wild Things on June 5th.  Sign up at the next den meeting, or at the Pack meeting on the 17th.  The cost is $5 for scouts, and $11 for all others.

Pack Spring Picnic May 17th

yogi-picnicThe final Pack Meeting of the year will be the Spring Picnic on Sunday, May 17th.  This will be held at Fairview Park from 3 to 6 PM.

Activities will include advancement awards, crossover to the next rank, games and events.  The bear dens will be doing a demonstration rocket launch.

The main course and drinks will be provided. All families are asked to bring one side dish or dessert:

Last name “A” – “L”  –> Dessert
Last name “M” – “Z”  –> Side Dish

Pack Meeting and Regatta This Friday

regattaFriday, April 24th we will be holding our April Pack Meeting and the Raingutter Regatta.  The event will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church at 7:00 PM.  We will try to begin PROMPTLY, so that we have time for the race!  A few reminders:

  • Bring your boat!
  • We’ll be racing outside, so bring a warm coat and a chair.
  • This will be your last chance to sign up for Day Camp at the early-bird rate.
  • We’ll also be taking signups and payments for the Washington Wild Things game on June 5th.

Clean Up Day at Zion

Our charter organization, the Zion Lutheran Church, is holding their Spring clean up day this Saturday, April 25th.  It starts around 9:30 Saturday morning for a few hours, or however long people can help.  The more hands the better –  to help with pulling weeds, doing mulch and cleaning up around the property.

Any scouts who are available Saturday morning are encourage to pitch in.  Please wear your scout uniform, so that the church can see that the Pack is grateful for their sponsorship!  Bring work gloves if you have them.

 

Washington Wild Things — June 5th

On Friday, June 5th (the last day of school for South Fayette), Pack 843 will be serving as Wildthingsthe Honor Guard for the Washington Wild Things.  Our pack will be be going onto the field at Consol Energy Park in Washington and presenting the colors for the National Anthem.  Afterwards, we will have field box seats for the game.

The cost of the tickets is $11 for parents and siblings.  For Pack 843 scouts, we will lower the price to $5 a ticket.  All scouts MUST be in uniform to go onto the field.  The game begins at 7:05, but we will need to assemble earlier (6:25) to get prepared.

Kick off your summer vacation the right way–by joining your fellow scouts on the field!  Look for a sign-up sheet at the next den meeting.

Resident Camp Reminder

The deadline to secure the early bird rates for resident camp is the end of this week, March 27, 2015.  The early bird rate is $265, which represents a savings of $25.  A deposit of $75 is needed to secure the early bird rate.
