Scouting For Food

Scouting for Food is our “Good Turn” to collect canned and
packaged foods for our neighbors in need.  On Sunday, April 6th the Pack will be in front of Shop-n-Save in Bridgeville.  We will be accepting food donations to be given to the local food bank at Bethany Church.  Scouts are asked to sign up for one-hour time slots to hand out flyers and collect donations.  The scouts seem to have a good time at the event, and it is wonderful exposure for the Pack as well as a help to the community.  Please consider signing up to help.

Blue and Gold Banquet Cake Contest

As a reminder, the Blue and Gold Banquet is this Sunday, March 2nd, 3:00 PM at the Fairview Firehall.Cake contest

All boys are invited to participate in the Cake Contest:

Each Scout and an adult partner are challenged to bake and decorate a Scout themed cake.  Some examples are camping, achievement activities, good deeds, etc.  There will be ribbons for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place.  The entire cake, including decorations, must be edible. No paper, toothpicks etc.  Only the thing it sits on doesn’t have to be edible ,but that can’t be part of the decoration.  After the competition the cakes will be served for desert so we would like as many participants as possible.  Place the Scout’s name on the underside of the cake so the competition is as anonymous as possible.  Judging will be done by the 3 Scoutmasters from the Boy Scout Troops that our Webelos II Scouts will be joining.

Cubmobile April 12th

Cubmobile RaceGentlemen, start your….legs? The Service Area 4 Cubmobile Races will be held Saturday, April 12th in the  Settler’s Cabin Wave pool parking lot.

What is a Cubmobile?  It’s a type of soapbox derby car that the boys race in 4 different events.  There is one gravity (downhill) event, and three events with a pusher and a driver.  Teams of two to four scouts compete against other scouts of the same rank.

How do I get a Cubmobile?  You build it!  Attached is a pdf file with instructions.  Several dens in the Pack have already built cars in the past, so if you are interested, ask around and you are sure to find some help.

When/Where/How Much is the race?  The race is at Settler’s Cabin, in the wavepool parking lot.  It’s Saturday April 12th.  Check-in begins at 8:30.  There is an opening ceremony at 9:15, and racing starts at 9:30.  The cost is $10 per scout.  Check-in runs until noon, and racing ends at 2:00 PM.

Anything else?  Dress WARM (even if it seems like a nice day — it’s cold on that hill!).  You MUST wear a helmet, gloves, and long pants.  Uniforms or “class Bs” are required, but they are usually under your coat, anyhow.

If your church isn’t already having a Scout Sunday Mass next week or if you wish to come to this one, as well, please feel free to join us.

SCOUT SUNDAY AT OUR LADY OF GRACE CHURCH – FEBRUARY 9
In celebration of National Boy Scout Sunday and the 104th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts, we invite all Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Adult Leaders to join Troop 834 and Pack 262 as we celebrate Mass at Our Lady of Grace Church on Sunday, February 9 at 9:30am.  We will gather (in full uniform) upstairs of the church (old nursery/choir room) beginning at 9am – I’ve confirmed the door will be unlocked.  We have reserved seating in the church and will walk in as a group prior to the beginning of  Mass as a group.    Please do not be later than 9:20am to walk in as a group.  If you happen to come late, please still sit with us anyway.  This invitation is open to the entire family (in or out of uniform, Catholic or non-Catholic).  We also welcome sibling Girl Scouts to come in uniform and sit with us, too, after all we are a Scouting famiily!
