Cub Scout Advancement Classes This Weekend

Attention all Cub Scouts!  The Pack received this invitation to an Advancement Class that will be held this Saturday:

My name is Eric Diffendal. I am the Den Chief for Pack 848 and I belong to Troop 248. We have been planning Cub Scout Advancement Classes for the scouts to earn new advancement electives. This program will be on Saturday, November 14 from 9-1 at the Oakdale Community Center. We are inviting you and your pack to participate in this event.

Please see this document for information about the classes.  Note that lunch will be served, and there is no cost.

If you are interested in going, please go to the signup sheet and register.  I promised a head-count by Thursday, so don’t delay!

Reminder Notice: POPCORN PICK-UP is SATURDAY, November 7th

Tomorrow, NOVEMBER 7th, is the pickup date for ALL Popcorn sales.  If you sold popcorn and turned in an order form, you MUST pick up your popcorn tomorrow at Oakridge Fire Hall.

If you are unable to pickup your popcorn during this time, you will need to make arrangements for someone to pickup your popcorn.

Popcorn Pickup on 11/7/2015:

WHEN:  between 12 – 2 pm tomorrow.

WHERE:  Oakridge Fire Hall

HOW:  Come into the Fire Hall.  Locate your popcorn – sorted by DEN #.  Check your order.  SIGN the release sheet to verify you checked your order and have your popcorn. Take your popcorn and prizes home.

Volunteers and Vehicles Needed For Popcorn Distribution

Due to a GREAT Fundraiser, we are in need of five (5) large vehicles (vans, pickup trucks, trailers, large SUVs) to help us pickup our popcorn:

WHENSaturday, November 7th. at 8:40am

WHERE: 115 Industry Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15275.  This pickup is at the RIDC Park West – close to Sam’s Club in Robinson.

NEEDPick-up Popcorn and deliver to Oakridge Fire Hall

Also NEEDSorters (at the Fire Hall) to sort popcorn and prizes by Scout

We have approximately 200 cases to pick up from RIDC Park West, drive to Oakridge Fire Hall and sort before noon. No one can pick up their popcorn until all the orders have been sorted and checked. If you are a sorter, you can take your popcorn as soon as we are finished.

I am creating a signup sheet.  Please let me know if you can do popcorn pickup and delivery, sorting or both.  If you can do both, that would be great.  Also, based on past experience, it goes much faster if we have adults only.  We also have more room in each vehicle for popcorn.

As always, I really appreciate your help with our popcorn fundraiser.

Hayride Wrapup

Thanks to all the scouts and their families who braved the cold to attend the October Pack Meeting and Hayride this weekend.  The Wolf den put on a great event, and I saw a lot of smiling scouts!

I understand that the popcorn sales were HUGE this year, so we can all look forward to a great year.  At the top of the list were the 14 scouts that sold $600 worth of popcorn, and got to throw a pie at their poor ol’ Cubmaster.  And now, without further ado, here is the head-shot you have all been waiting for.  Thanks, Logan!

Note:  Video won’t play?  Then watch it here on YouTube.

P.S.  The next den meetings are this Wednesday, October 21st at the South Fayette Elementary School.  Remember to start planning your skits for the November Pack Meeting!

Hayride Sunday — Popcorn Orders Due!

The Pack 843 Fall Hayride and October Pack Meeting is this Sunday, October 18th.  If you haven’t signed up yet, please use the   to do so right away!

The event will be Boy’s Home Park (near Hogan Field, Boy’s Home Rd. off of Battle Ridge Rd.) from 3:00 until 6:00. Please dress for the weather, and bring a chair if you’d like.

IMPORTANT:  This is the LAST chance to turn in popcorn orders!  Here are two steps that willl help the process move faster for everyone:

  • Please tally your order forms and double check the totals (hint:  Multiply the totals at the bottom of the page by the cost per unit.  Does that match your dollar total from the right-hand side?).
  •  It would be helpful to convert any cash into a single check made out to “Pack 843”.

See you at the Hayride!
