Popcorn SHOW-N-SALE Events start Labor Day Weekend

It is POPCORN SHOW-N-SELL time of the year.  We will be posting Show-N-Sell opportunities very soon.  We will be selling at Walmart in Robinson and Lowes in WASHINGTON in early September.

Labor Day weekend we will be at Walmart in Robinson on Saturday and Sunday.  We will have popcorn table at both doors (2 tables total) so I will have 4 slots per hour available for Walmart.  The second weekend in September we will be at Lowes in Washington and will have our usual 2 slots per hour.

New items to note this year:

You will be allowed to sign up for 2 hours for each weekend.  HOWEVER, if there are still open slots on Wednesday morning for that weekend then feel free to signup for additional slots for the upcoming weekend. This should allow everyone to get hours.

If you need to cancel your time slot please text me (412-780-9757).  We need to have 2 boys per table at each show-n-sell.

If you sign up for the FIRST or LAST HOUR of the day you must be willing to help transport popcorn if needed.  This will be needed if Cara Robitaille, Caterina Massimino or I cannot open or close the event or if there are multiple show-n-sale events on the same day.

Just a few reminders:

  1.  Boys must be in their uniform when selling popcorn. The uniform includes the cub scout shirt with the Pack 843 patch you received when you signed up, a neckerchief, neckerchief slide and hat.
  2.  When signing up for a time slot, please sign up with your CHILD’s name so I can credit your child for the time working the Show & Sell.
  3.  Leave the site as you found it.  Please clean up everything you bring to the Show & Sell site.
  4.  The Scouts can use the bathroom if needed but otherwise must stay at the location of the popcorn table.  No wandering in and out of the facility.
  5.  Please make sure your Scout keeps the entry and exit pathway clear so we do not block anyone from entering or exiting the facility.
  6. We can accept checks at the Show & Sell location (checks need to be made out to PACK 843). We do NOT take credit cards.
  7. If you need to cancel your time slot, PLEASE send me a text message (412-780-9757).  I can clear the spot so someone else can sign up.   If your child is ill the morning of the Show & Sell, please CALL ME as early at possible (don’t worry about waking me up, I am up very early).
  8. If you run out of popcorn or have any issues while at the Show & Sell, PLEASE call me (412-780-9757 – my number is also on the popcorn tally sheet)
  9. If you have any questions, please send me an email ( karen10903@gmail.com)

Picnic Wrapup and Pirate Game Times

Okay, I forgot a couple important things at the picnic.  Foremost is a big THANK YOU to our Tiger Dens for putting on a great picnic.  Our three dens, and especially their den leaders — Mrs. Bonacci, Mrs. Vega, Mr. Miller, and Mrs. Robitaille —  put in a lot of work to pull everything together.  And hey, how about that Kona Ice?  The way the kids went after it, I thought for a minute that it was 75 degrees out there….

I also wanted to say a thank you to Troop 2 for loaning us the carports, and to Mr. Allcorn from Troop 2 for all the extra tables and chairs.  Now what most of you missed was this:  Before and after the picnic, we had one scout each from Troop 2, Troop 248 and Troop 834 working together to set up and tear down the carports and extra seating. That was an awful lot of Good Turns (and cooperation) from all three of our awesome local Troops.  Thank you scouts!

FOR THOSE ATTENDING THE PIRATES GAME:

  • If you are part of the Color Guard, do not enter the ballpark! You will use your game ticket to enter the ballpark AFTER you have completed your on-field ceremony.
  • You should report to the Mazeroski Way cul-de-sac by 5:45.
  • Reporting later than your assigned time may put your participation in the on-field ceremony in jeopardy, so please leave yourself plenty of time to get to the ballpark.
  • The Mazeroski Way Cul-De-Sac is on the west side of the ballpark and marked with a giant statue of Bill Mazeroski.
  • Scouts and leaders need to be in uniform to participate in the Color Guard.
  • Other ticket holders (those not going on the field) can proceed to their seats, and we will bring all the scouts up to their seats at the end of the ceremonies.
