A Busy Week

It’s going to be a busy week, so make sure you are ready!

Wednesday there are den meetings at the SF Elementary School.

Saturday (Jan 21st) is the Pinewood Derby Weight-In, at Zion Lutheran Church from 10 Am to Noon.  All scouts who want to race on the 28th need to bring their cars to the Weigh-In!

At the the meeting or at the Weigh-In, we will be accepting Hoagie Orders.  Saturday is the LAST date to turn them in!  Remember you need two forms for hoagie sales:   and Hoagie Summary Sheet.  Please bring the full payment in one check made out to Pack 843.

At the meeting or the Weigh-In you can also turn in reservations for the Blue and Gold Banquet, being held February 26th at Fairview Firehall Sunset Room.  All the information about the Blue and Gold is in this post.

Wolf Den 3 is continuing to collect food for the food bank as part of their Wolf Service Project.  If you would like to contribute, you can bring non-perishable items to the Saturday Weigh-In.

Service Project at Zion

ScoutsAtWorkFirst a note from Friday’s Pack Meeting — If anyone lost anything (like hats or glasses), contact the Cubmaster.

The Zion Lutheran Church is having a workday on Sunday November 29th at 12:30 (after church services) for cleaning up the leaves around the property. There will be pizza and drinks for lunch when you begin.  If you have a rake or a tarp – bring it along.

Remember that Zion is our charter organization, and it’s great to be able to help them out.  And we need the service hours to help our Pack earn the GOLD standard of the “Journey to Excellence” this year.  So please pitch in!

Do A Good Turn

I received this request from Bear Den leader Derik Moore:

“A friend at work just accepted twin 2 year-old boys into his home, and will serve as foster parents for them indefinitely.  He is in need of clothing donations, from 24MO up through 3T.  Based on the ages of our scouts (and by extension, their younger siblings), I’m certain there are families out there with bins of used clothes that would be of great help to Mike and his family. ”

If you can help out, please contact  directly to make arrangements.

Clean Up Day at Zion

Our charter organization, the Zion Lutheran Church, is holding their Spring clean up day this Saturday, April 25th.  It starts around 9:30 Saturday morning for a few hours, or however long people can help.  The more hands the better –  to help with pulling weeds, doing mulch and cleaning up around the property.

Any scouts who are available Saturday morning are encourage to pitch in.  Please wear your scout uniform, so that the church can see that the Pack is grateful for their sponsorship!  Bring work gloves if you have them.

Christmas Caroling This Wednesday

The pack is scheduled to sing Christmas Carols at Washington Commons on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 6:30 p.m.  We should be done by 8:00 p.m.

The songs we will be singing are available in this pdf.  Please print these out and have your boys practice prior to Wednesday so that they are familiar with the songs.  Parents are encouraged to sing with us as well.

We will bring about 30 booklets of the songs with us next week.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me at mark@gubinskylaw.com

Caroling — December 17th

carolingOn Wednesday, December 17th the Pack will be caroling at Washington Commons, 528 Dewey Avenue in Bridgeville.  We will meet there at 6:30, and begin caroling at 7:00.  There will not be regular den meetings on the 17th.

If you can attend, please drop a note to Mark Gubinsky (mark@gubinskylaw.com) and let him know.

Remember what Santa says:  “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”  (I learned that from an elf).

Help Needed! Church Cleanup

ScoutsAtWorkEvery year the Zion Lutheran Church (our Pack’s charter organization) does a fall clean-up day, and invites the Cub Scouts to pitch in.   This year the clean-up day will be on Saturday, November 22nd.  They will begin about 9:00.

Bob Long, the Den 11 den leader, will be helping to coordinate the Pack’s effort.  Please contact him at longre93 (at) gmail.com with any questions, or to let him know that you can help.  The church has asked that helpers bring work gloves and an extra rake if you have one.  If you wear your uniform, then everyone will be able to tell that our Pack is helping out (and that’s good publicity!)

This is a great chance for the boys to show the Church how much we appreciate their support.  It adds community service hours to their scout record, and (believe it!) the boys will have a good time pitching in.
