Popcorn Update

New sign-up sheets are posted for the next 2 Sundays. If you can find another place we can have a show-n-sell please let me know. I have removed the extra restrictions on the popcorn sign-up sheets. You can sign up for 2 hours per day. If you are signing up for the first hour of the sale, plan to pick up popcorn items from the Kernel’s house and setup.  If you are signing up for the last hour, plan to take down our setup and transport tems to the Kernel’s house.

IF you have worked for any show-n-sell shifts, YOU MUST BE REGISTERED on Trail’s End app in order for me to give your scout credit for time worked. Or, if you are selling by wagon sales or putting orders on popcorn sales forms, YOU NEED TO REGISTER your scout in order for me to apply credit to your scout. So, if you sold any popcorn, please make sure you registered your scout(s) on the Trail’s End app on your smartphone or tablet.

WAGON SALES: If you posted your wagon sales on the Trail’s End app, please contact me. I have your wagon deliveries ready for pickup. I can be reached via text at 412-780-9757 to arrange a date and time for pickup.

POPCORNS SALE ENDS on Oct 20th. Popcorn orders placed directly on the app will need to completed by this date. Popcorn paper order sheets are due on Oct 20th (during our October Pack Meeting/Fall Picnic). All money for orders are also due at the picnic. All money should be in an envelope with the Scout’s name and amount due written on the front of the envelope. If you put the orders in the app under wagon sales you will still need to meet with me to drop off the money For popcorn monies due, if possible please write one check made out to Pack 843 for the amount due for popcorn orders.

Den Meeting Tonight and additional POPCORN show-n-sell location for this weekend

Reminder:  This is the 1st Wednesday of the month which means this is the Den Meeting night (unless otherwise notified by your Den Leader).  By now, each Den should have an assigned room.  Please wait in the Lobby until your Den Leader has arrived.

POPCORN UPDATE: If you have sold any popcorn and posted it on the Trail’s End app wagon sale, I have been notified and will be bringing that popcorn to the Elementary School this evening (if I have it in stock).  This past weekend sales were pretty good so my supplies are low until Friday.

This SATURDAY we will be at 2 locations:  Safran’s in Sewickley and now we have LOWES in Robinson.  We need all the spots filled.  And don’t forget, we also have Giant Eagle on Sunday.  Please sign up today.  Even if you have worked previous sales, signups are now open to all scouts.

Reminder – Sign up for Show-n-Sells. We still have many open slots for Safran’s grocery store in Sewickley.

This is our first time at Safran’s. This is an upscale grocery store in Sewickley and we are hoping for great sales and donations. We can’t do that without all the shifts filled.

Each scout will earn an hourly rate for each shift worked. The hourly rate is calculated by totaling the sales for ALL the show-n-sells and dividing it by the total number of hours works. The current hourly rate is $64 per hour. At this time, we only have location(s) for this Saturday and next Saturday and limited availability on Sunday. We are still looking for more show-n-sell locations in October so if you want to work a show-n-sell, sign up for the next 2 weekends or help us find more locations.

More Show-N-Sell sites posted but with new signup limitations

Scouts MUST be in uniform.  Scouts work in 1-hour blocks, 2 scouts per block.  If your scout has not worked a prior sale, you may sign up at any time.

If you have worked hours from prior show-n-sells this year, please wait until Thursday prior to the sale weekend to sign up for hours.  We have over 100 scouts and this will allow others a chance to sign up.  You are allowed a maximum signup of 2 blocks per scout per weekend until Friday prior to event.

On Friday, prior to event weekend, you may sign up for more hours.  However, remember the kids have to stand and sell for the hours they signed up for and more than 2 hours at a time my be difficult for most kids. If you are unable to work the time slot you signed up for, you must notify the popcorn kernel.

If you are signing up for the first hour of the sale, plan to pickup popcorn, table and money box from Popcorn Kernel’s house and setup.  If you are signing up for the last hour, plan to take down our setup and return all unsold popcorn, table and money box to Popcorn Kernel’s house.

Popcorn Show-n-Sell just posted with shifts available for this Sunday.

We have a popcorn signup sheet with available shifts for this Sunday. Each shift is 1 hour long. You are allowed to sign up for 2 shifts per scout per day. However, if shifts are still available on Friday morning, please feel free to sign up for more shifts. We need at least 1 scout per shift but would prefer 2 scouts per shift. Link to sign-up sheet. If you are opening or closing for any show-n-sell, you will be responsible for setting up or closing the show-n-sell. Opening means you will need to pick up the popcorn, table and money box at my house. Closing means you will be responsible to returning money, table and all remaining popcorn to my house.

Cub Scout reminders

Being the third Wednesday of the month we will be having our den meetings at the school at 6:30pm (elementary school for K-2nd grade or intermediate school for 3rd-5th grade) unless told otherwise by your den leader.

Friday September 20th is the first pack meeting of the school year. It will be at Cecil Park at the large pavilion near the tennis courts starting at 7pm. We will start with opening ceremony followed by awards ceremony. We will also have popcorn tasting and meet the new scouts. Scouts should come in uniform.

Popcorn update: We have had several show-n-sells so far and will soon be posting another sign-up. If you have ideas for new locations, please let the Cubmaster know. We are also looking for individuals to organize show-n-deliver sales in neighborhoods for scouts to do wagon sales on a Saturday morning.

This coming weekend we have a Show-n-Sell at Giant Eagle in Robinson

There is a new app this year for popcorn (trails end).  There is also training for parents – app.trail-end.com.  Please take a few moments to put this app on your phone and watch the training video.

Trail’s End Popcorn is our main fund raising event that helps our Pack do all that we do. This allows the Pack to pay for books, advancements, pinewood derby cars, rain gutter regatta boats and park pavilions for pack meetings, just to name a few..  There are several ways to participate in popcorn sales:.

  • We have Show-n-Sells (where we stand in front of a store, like LOWE’S, and have our table with popcorn and sell).  Show-n-Sell hours will earn an hourly rate based on sales and donations. Last year the hourly rate was about $45/hour for sales with additional $20/hour for donations.
  • Your scout can do Door-to-door sales with a parent or another scout.
  • We have online sales (no shipping cost this year) – great for family members that live far away
  • We would like to do some organized neighborhood selling if possible – will be asking for ideas and help organizing.

This coming weekend we have a Show-n-Sell at Giant Eagle in Robinson – link for sign-up sheet.  The Pack has one door for sales.  The signup sheet is on our website.  I am working on a few more sites in the coming few weeks.  Scouts MUST be in uniform to sell popcorn.

We are asking all scouts to sell an amount of $425 of popcorn.  If your scout sells $425 in popcorn, the profit earned would pay for their dues for next year – no money for dues would have to come out of your pocket.  IT PAYS TO SELL POPCORN! Scout profit after dues paid will go to their scout account and funds in their scout account can be used for any event (example: Pirate Game) or purchase (uniform, camping gear) related to scouts.

***IMPORTANT *** If you opt NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE POPCORN FUNDRAISING for the Pack, we will require an additional $40 in November when we collect the Dues for 2020.

OUR NEXT DEN MEETING IS ON WEDNESDAY, SEPT 18.

OUR FIRST PACK MEETING IS ON FRIDAY, SEPT 20.
