Service Project at Zion

ScoutsAtWorkFirst a note from Friday’s Pack Meeting — If anyone lost anything (like hats or glasses), contact the Cubmaster.

The Zion Lutheran Church is having a workday on Sunday November 29th at 12:30 (after church services) for cleaning up the leaves around the property. There will be pizza and drinks for lunch when you begin.  If you have a rake or a tarp – bring it along.

Remember that Zion is our charter organization, and it’s great to be able to help them out.  And we need the service hours to help our Pack earn the GOLD standard of the “Journey to Excellence” this year.  So please pitch in!

Cub Scout Advancement Classes This Weekend

Attention all Cub Scouts!  The Pack received this invitation to an Advancement Class that will be held this Saturday:

My name is Eric Diffendal. I am the Den Chief for Pack 848 and I belong to Troop 248. We have been planning Cub Scout Advancement Classes for the scouts to earn new advancement electives. This program will be on Saturday, November 14 from 9-1 at the Oakdale Community Center. We are inviting you and your pack to participate in this event.

Please see this document for information about the classes.  Note that lunch will be served, and there is no cost.

If you are interested in going, please go to the signup sheet and register.  I promised a head-count by Thursday, so don’t delay!

Hayride Wrapup

Thanks to all the scouts and their families who braved the cold to attend the October Pack Meeting and Hayride this weekend.  The Wolf den put on a great event, and I saw a lot of smiling scouts!

I understand that the popcorn sales were HUGE this year, so we can all look forward to a great year.  At the top of the list were the 14 scouts that sold $600 worth of popcorn, and got to throw a pie at their poor ol’ Cubmaster.  And now, without further ado, here is the head-shot you have all been waiting for.  Thanks, Logan!

Note:  Video won’t play?  Then watch it here on YouTube.

P.S.  The next den meetings are this Wednesday, October 21st at the South Fayette Elementary School.  Remember to start planning your skits for the November Pack Meeting!

Hayride Sunday — Popcorn Orders Due!

IMPORTANT:  This is the LAST chance to turn in popcorn orders!  Here are two steps that willl help the process move faster for everyone:

  • Please tally your order forms and double check the totals (hint:  Multiply the totals at the bottom of the page by the cost per unit.  Does that match your dollar total from the right-hand side?).
  •  It would be helpful to convert any cash into a single check made out to “Pack 843”.

See you at the Hayride!

Pack Meeting Friday

Reminder — the Pack Meeting is this Friday, September 18th, 7:00 PM at Fairview Park.  Please meet at the entrance pavilion BY 7:00.  We have limited daylight, so we have to start promptly!

Scouts should be in uniform (but if you don’t have one yet, please come anyhow).  We will be geocaching in the woods, so long pants and decent shoes would be a good choice. As with any hike, items like a flashlight and a water bottle would also be a good idea.  Parents may want to bring a chair and a jacket.
